The Big Move!

Well, I guess I should let you all know the big news… we are moving soon! AND, we have moved this blog to a new and final location : DADSPOSTCARDS.COM

Why? ….well, I had this idea a few years ago that each time we moved, I would change the domain name of our family blog, but that got to be a bit annoying and hard to follow, since we changed our address every 2-4 years.

So, now we are excited to have this great new site (with all the old stuff, too,) and some really big news about where we are headed. Where are we going next? Well, you will have to check out the new site for that! I will not be posting to this site anymore after this post, so if you haven’t visited us in a while, be sure to go here and find out what is new. The new site has a lot of new and exciting features that this site can’t do…. you really need to go check it out. We will be very busy in the next few months and we will be checking out of Arizona permanently by the end of May. So, be sure to go to the new site, read the news about our new location in Washington D.C. and leave a comment. And don’t forget to bookmark the new site!!

We have lots more to tell you, but that will be all announced on the new site.

Madison’s 4th Birthday

Well, I can’t find any photos from New Years in Fresno, so lets move on!
Madison had a great birthday this year. We invited some of her friends to have a party for her at “Freedom Station” in Prescott Valley. It’s kind of like a Chucky Cheese, but is smells more like socks than anything else. The kids had a great time, and Madison received a ton of My Little Pony presents. This was the weekend before her birthday, so when she went to school on Tuesday (her actual birthday,) she was confused when they sang her Happy Birthday again.

Her class has a sock monkey named Fred that gets to go home with any kid with a birthday, so Madison got to take Fred home for the night. Only thing is, we got so much snow, that school was canceled for about a week. Fred is still here, but he goes back tomorrow.

Well, I have been meaning to get some photos from the last part of the year up, but there has not been a “blogging moment” for me lately. Lazy? Maybe… but my little boy has been sick and I just will use that as an excuse.

So… we had a great Christmas! My family, the Donaldsons, came to visit for the holidays, and we had a wonderful time. My mom, dad, and sister showed up right after the holiday festival thingy that the city hosted downtown, and I cooked some pretty good stuff. There is more to right, but honestly, I want to go watch Glee and veg out. So, here are some photos from the last few weeks of December.

It’s getting pretty cold here and we might get some snow soon, too. We put up the tree and decorations yesterday, and now the house is all lit up!

We are almost done with school this semester, and then we will have about a month off. We have the Donaldson family visiting for Christmas and then we will head to Fresno for the New Years.

We had a great lunch today. I made the best banana bread of my life and we have been enjoying it very much! I might post the recipe later… The kids have been busy with activities and we just returned from a mini-vacation down in Scottsdale where we stayed at the Fairmont resort (see link on the right sidebar) and met up with our friends, the Gould’s. They came down from Sitka to look for a condo and we decided to hang out for dinner! This picture is the only one I have since I forgot my camera, but Jennifer might have a photo or two on her blog soon. It was great to see them again, and if they get a place down in Scottsdale, we will certainly see them again soon.

It was a great two days away from home and the resort was fantastic! I made a video of some of the pictures from the time we spent there… its not a very good collection of photos, but then again, I was there to relax. It was very kid friendly, too. Llama Casa and the Grand Canyon

A few weeks ago, my sister, Lee Ann, visited us and we all took a small trip up to Williams, AZ to relax and take a fun train ride to the Grand Canyon. We stayed at a place called “The Llama Casa Ranch” and it was on several acres with several Llamas that we got to feed. The house was nice and big and the next day’s train ride was a blast. We almost missed it both ways, but once on board, there were people dressed up like cowboys and such and would sing us songs and tell jokes. On the train ride back to Williams at the end of the day, the train was “robbed” by some very loud and scary looking cowboys and Max was not a fan.

The whole trip was fun and since we have been back, we have kept busy. I will post more soon and be sure to look at all 4 pictures in this post. For ALL of the pictures from the trip, click here!

Horse Shoe Bend

We headed to Horse Shoe Bend after visiting Montezuma’s Castle yesterday…. The bend is something to see if you ever get a chance. It is a small walk from the highway to the drop-off… and it is really a 500 foot drop off. When we arrived, there was a storm heading toward us, so we couldn’t stay too long. As we left the bend, the rain really poured down on us and we got SOAKED! That cliff had no warnings or gates… you could easily fall to your death. I put pictures AND a video so you KNOW I am not photoshoping this. =)

After drying up a bit and eating lunch, we got behind a giant SOMETHING on the road and it was escorted by tons of police. People had to pull over since it took up the entire road. It eventually pulled over and let us pass it… not sure what the heck it was…

We are now in Cedar City at the KOA and it is really nice here. We going to hit up Zion tomorrow. G’night!
