Having fun in Oregon
Posted on 27. Mar, 2008 by Scott D.
We are almost ready to come home, but I have a few pictures to share on the past week. We flew into Portland a week ago, and it was really rainy for the first few days but we had fun letting my parents watch the kids and eating out. We celebrated Easter dinner a day early since Shana (the wife) had to fly out on Sunday for pilot training.
We celebrated Easter Sunday by going to church with the kids.. (and I wish I had taken my camera to the cathedral because it was so impressive) ..and the cool thing about a huge-as-Christ church is that they have a toddler room and an infant room where you can drop off the kids and they give you a pager for each one, just in case they eat too much paste.
After we went home, and Madison got to hunt around for her Easter basket. She checked the toy box first and got distracted, but eventually she found it.
On Tuesday, I drove the kids down to Salem to spend the night with my friends and their kids, the Lowry Family. The kids all played and played together and after they went to bed, my best bud, Tim, and I played Guitar Hero III on the Wii for a few hours. The next day, we took the kids to an indoor playground in Salem. I thought this would wear them out, but they never took naps until the car ride home.

Having fun in Fresno
Posted on 27. Mar, 2008 by Scott D.
We are nearing the end of our trip to Fresno and Oregon, and as you know, my in-laws had a great party honoring their 35th wedding anniversary. I didn’t take so many pictures of events, but I got my hands on a few, so I thought I would share them!
Here are some of my Fresno/Madera photos and I will do another post of some Portland/Salem ones too.

Heroes need training
Posted on 23. Mar, 2008 by Scott D.
My wife, the hero, is off to Mobile, Alabama to get more training on how to be a good helicopter pilot. She gets to study emergency possibilities that could happen during her flight, like… I dunno, her helicopter catching on fire or something…
And she gets to fly in a simulator that is in a mini-IMAX machine… a true-to-god multi-million dollar video game. LUCKY!
It just sucks that she has to be away from us for a week. I am staying in Portland with the kids so I can see friends and family and eat out, too.
When I took her to the airport this morning, I thought I would have to say good-bye right before security, but a nice lady at American Airlines created a fake ticket for me to go through and hang out with her even longer. Has anyone done this before? It was really nice.
We had coffee and a rich German styled breakfast.

happy-happy-anniversary
Posted on 16. Mar, 2008 by Scott D.
I wanted to wish my in-laws-of-coolness a very happy 35th Anniversary. My wife, Shana, and her sister, Heather, hosted a great party with tons of people and I was in charge of the video slide show, and taking care of the kids. During this great fiesta, I forgot to take my camera into the party, so I will post pictures of the event if I can get my hands on them.
In short, we had a great feast of southern food, wonderful company, a few tearful toasts to the still-married couple, and some nice dessert. I made a video of pictures that was shown and I was able to post most of it online, but I had to cut 8 minutes of it, since youtube only allows 10 minutes of video to be posted currently.
For those of you that don’t know my wife’s family and friends, this video won’t mean much, but I had fun putting this together with music. Here is the music I used on the origional production: (open links to iTunes)
- All I Want Is You by Barry Louis Polisar
- Danny’s Song by Kenny Logins
- Romeo and Juliet by Dire Straights
- See the World (with and old fashion Girl) by Gomez
Enjoy!

things that keep me awake
Posted on 15. Mar, 2008 by Scott D.
- traveling for two days straight and sleeping on odd mattresses
- having a cold
- my son having a cold
- having slight back pain
- trains that blow their horns each hour as they travel by in the middle of the night
- worrying about tomorrow
- my wife having severe pain from sudden kidney stones and having to be taken to the hospital to make sure her kidneys are ok and that she will be able to fly again.
But I won’t complain.
p.s. She is home again and doing fine, but this cold still sucks.
